Leading legal tech projects to success
LTV Level 1 and 2*
All legal departments and law firms face the same challenge: the workload is increasing, while staffing levels are expected to decline in the coming years. To close this gap, a significantly higher degree of digitization and automation will be necessary than what we are currently seeing.
This roundtable is designed to help participants implement Legal Tech projects in a targeted and successful way. Together, we will analyze how proven methods from project management, process analysis, and the development and implementation of IT systems can be adapted to the legal context. We will also explore the cultural prerequisites and organizational structures that promote project success—and how to avoid common pitfalls.
The program combines presentations and real-world case studies and is intended to offer ample room for open exchange of experiences. The roundtable will be led by Wolfgang Roidl and Steffen Huß from NodeMasters.
Mind the gap: Building bridges in unstable times
LTV Level 1 and 2*
Lawyers think differently than Legal Tech specialists. That’s why it’s not enough to simply develop a professional understanding of one another. To work together successfully, it’s essential to grasp the cultural differences as well.
Let’s talk about key mindsets and communication styles, personality types and future skills, leadership models and time horizons.
The goal of our workshop is for both sides to:
-
position themselves more clearly in an increasingly challenging environment,
-
become more successful through more effective communication,
-
integrate more smoothly into interdisciplinary teams, and
-
tackle time-wasters more efficiently.
This roundtable will be led by Dr. Anette Schunder-Hartung, attorney-at-law, from aHa Strategic Business Development.
Gen AI in the Legal Sector: Benchmarking for greater trust and transparency
LTV Level 3*
Generative AI has been a key driver of technological development for several years and has now become omnipresent in the legal field as well. Yet real-world use cases remain scarce. Critical voices cite concerns about a lack of precision—such as hallucinations or poor output quality. But how justified are these concerns?
This monthly roundtable offers a deep dive into the world of GenAI models, featuring discussions on trust in GenAI (how to identify limitations and appropriate use cases), efficient application (is GenAI truly beneficial in legal processes?), and benchmarking and evaluation (what methods best assess performance and reliability?).
The roundtable will be led by Viktor von Essen, Co-Founder & CEO of Libra, along with Benedikt Reinhard and Maximilian Reinhard, Co-Founders of Legalian.
*The formats are labeled according to our LTV levels. Level 1 is for beginners, Level 2 for intermediates and Level 3 for advanced professionals.
Legal Tech Spotlight – Pitch & Connect
“Legal Tech Spotlight – Pitch & Connect” is the stage for innovations, ideas, and tools from our community. Only our members have the exclusive opportunity to present their solutions to a broad network – gaining visibility, feedback and valuable connections.
With this format, we aim to provide a compact, hands-on platform to shine a light on developments in digital innovation for the legal market, right where potential users, partners and stakeholders are looking.
Each session focuses on one category from our Toolfinder, highlighting solutions that make legal workflows more efficient, more digital and future-ready.
The event is hosted by our board member Maraja Fistanic.
Mix & Match
Looking to make new connections without a rigid agenda? Mix & Match, our virtual networking event, brings together inspiring individuals from our member organizations for spontaneous conversations, all within just one hour. It’s relaxed, easy, and happens in 1:1 sessions via randomly assigned breakout rooms.
Mix & Match is the perfect way to dive into the network. The format thrives on open exchange and helps you connect quickly and effortlessly. It’s a great opportunity to start conversations and maybe even find your next great match.
The event is hosted by our board member Maraja Fistanic.
Legal Tech: A Political Perspective
With our Policy Talk Series “Legal Tech – A Political Perspective”, we create a forum for regular discussions on current political developments in the field of Legal Tech. Together with experts from politics, academia and practice, we address issues that are relevant to the digitalization of the legal market – bringing together perspectives that rarely meet.
The Policy Talk is hosted by our board member Dr. Philipp Hammerich and our Head of Public Affairs, Annika Schröder.
Expert Group on Regulation
This format gives our members the opportunity to actively contribute to current legislative processes and professional regulatory issues. The topics are chosen by the members themselves. An expert prepares the selected topic and gives a short introductory presentation.
This allows our members to quickly familiarize themselves with complex issues and then contribute to the association’s opining-forming process. The group leader is then responsible for drafting the statements.
This expert group is led by our board member, Dr. Philipp Hammerich.
Workshop series: “Practical insights – legal operations in legal departments”
LTV-Level 1 and 2*
In cooperation with our partner, the Federal Association of In-House Lawyers (BUJ), we are offering an online workshop series specifically designed for legal departments.
The series consists of four one-hour sessions. Each workshop provides practical insights and actionable recommendations to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of your legal department.
This workshop series is intended as a complete program and is exclusively aimed at employees from legal departments who are either looking to gain an initial overview of Legal Operations topics and/or have just begun exploring the digitalization of their work.
The workshops are led by our board member and Head of Legal Strategy and Operations at Bauer Media Group, Dr. Sven-Alexander von Normann.
*The formats are labeled according to our LTV levels. Level 1 is for beginners, Level 2 for intermediates and Level 3 for advanced professionals.
API standards in the legal ecosystem
Anyone working digitally in the legal field knows the problem: different systems rarely speak the same language, and data exchange is often complicated and costly. We want to change that!
Our API Roundtable has given rise to a dedicated working group that has been intensively developing a unified API standard for the legal industry for over a year. This standard is set to revolutionize digital collaboration and lay the foundation for the future. Our goal is to ensure maximum compatibility within the existing ecosystem. As an association, we provide a platform to involve as many stakeholders from the industry as possible and to establish the standard in a sustainable way.
We need support from across the entire industry to successfully implement this forward-looking initiative. Are you interested in exchanging ideas and getting involved? We’d love to hear from you! Just reach out to us at kontakt@legaltechverband.de.
Special thanks go to all members of the working group and its leader Lara Ludwig, Consultant at SINC, who is passionately working on this milestone of digital transformation. From the Legal Tech Association, Annika Schröder is supporting the working group.
Legal AI benchmarking standard
Europe Needs a Unified Legal AI Benchmarking Standard!
While reference projects like LegalBench (Stanford) in the U.S. and LITIG in the UK already exist, we still lack a common benchmark in Europe. We want to change that — and you can help!
The goal is to collaboratively define the requirements for a European benchmarking standard. We want to set the standard now — for a transparent Europe!
Let’s take action as a community! We’re looking for dedicated members who want to actively contribute to the development of a European benchmarking standard. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out to us at kontakt@legaltechverband.de.
Special thanks go to all participants of the working group, as well as Daniela Domokos (ARAG), Clemens Hufeld (Noxtua) and Sebastian Nagl (TUM) for their valuable contributions and constructive collaboration.
